About Dr. Wishnick

As a clinical psychologist, I am a doctorally trained mental health professional. Psychologists typically have 6-7 years of graduate level training, plus an additional postdoctoral year prior to licensure, which makes us among the most highly trained mental health specialists.
I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. I received my Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati, with a focus on serious mental illnesses. My major research focus was learning to live a meaningful life within the limits of mental health problems.
I am a licensed psychologist in the states of Ohio and Indiana. I am a member of the Ohio Psychological Association and The Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology, for which I served on the board of directors. I have also received specialized training in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have received a certificate in the Fundamentals of DBT Individual Therapy from Behavioral Tech. Behavioral Tech was founded by Dr. Marsha Linehan as a scientifically state of the art training organization for clinicians working with complex and severely disordered individuals. I regularly seek out additional training opportunities in DBT and participate in a local DBT consultation group with other clinicians who are using this model. I have been running Adolescent DBT Skills Training Groups since 2009.
In addition to my clinical training, I also have extensive experience as a collaborative divorce professional and mediator. I am a long time member and past president of The Cincinnati Academy of Collaborative Professionals, which is an organization of attorneys, mental health professionals and financial professionals who use the collaborative divorce process to minimize conflict and to lessen the impact of separations on children. Click here for more information about the collaborative process. I have also completed both basic and family law mediation training through the Ohio Supreme Court, as well as numerous collaborative divorce trainings with leaders in the field. I am also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
I have worked with a wide range of clients in different settings including community mental health, college counseling, hospitals and prisons. Although I am not a native, I have been living in the Cincinnati area since 1995. I am passionate about exercise and believe it is e an important component of stress management and mental health.
