Elder Mediation

Aging-related decisions can be complicated—emotionally, legally, and practically. When elderly relatives experience deterioration in their physical and cognitive functioning, family members may have differing options about living arrangements, health care, driving, finances, safety, and other considerations. When multiple voices, concerns, and emotions are involved, discussions can become overwhelming, and family dynamics can become strained.

Elder Mediation provides a calm, neutral space for families to navigate these sensitive matters together. With the guidance of a trained mediator, families can work toward understanding, clarity, and solutions that honor the needs of all involved.

I have completed specialty training in Elder Mediation through the Ohio Supreme Court. It is my belief that Elder Mediation is an important and useful tool to navigate complicated family dynamics with dignity and respect. In most situations I offer this service with an attorney co-mediator in order to use our combined expertise to best address the emotional, financial and legal complexities.

About the Process

The elder mediation process begins with a phone call, where I will listen to your concerns and assess whether mediation is the right fit. As a part of this process, I will have conversations with each stakeholder individually, so you can share your perspective in a confidential way. Throughout mediation, I will serve as a neutral facilitator, guiding family members and caregivers through structured conversations in a neutral setting. Ultimately, the goal is to arrive at realistic, mutual solutions.
